St. Augustine School currently has 2 separate preschool programs – one for three-year-olds and one for four-year-olds.  We provide a safe and nurturing environment where children develop skills needed to become life-long learners.
 
Three program options are available to parents:

1. Five full days (Monday thru Friday) 8:00 – 2:15

2. Five mornings only (Monday thru Friday) 8:00 – 11:15

3. Three full days (Mon, Wed, Fri) and two half days (Tues, Thurs)

 
Overall Goals of Our Preschool Program
 
•    To develop a respect for the environment and God’s creation, and provide each child with an early spiritual foundation beginning with the love of themselves, their families, and their friends
 
•    To develop a strong and confident sense of self, as well as a respect for others, both classmates and adults
 
•    To foster a positive attitude toward both learning and school, so that at this young age, and going forward, it is something the children love and look forward to
 
•    To provide a nurturing, stimulating and safe classroom environment and school community so that the children will flourish socially, cognitively, and physically
 
•   To develop the children’s auditory, visual, verbal, social, and physical (both fine     and gross motor) skills needed to facilitate academic success in the future
 
 
          Children learn how to socialize with their peers, to share, to listen and to follow directions.  They learn the days of the week, the months of the year, and the seasons.  Pre-reading skills are introduced and developed – recognition of uppercase and lowercase letters and the sounds each letter makes.  Students count to one hundred, learn patterning, and practice basic addition and subtraction.  All of this is accomplished in a fun and creative way through stories and songs.  Arts and Crafts projects are done daily to help students develop large and small motor skills and listening skills.  Weather permitting, students play on our playground in the back of the school.
 
            Students have the opportunity for music class and to go to the school library weekly for story time.  PreK 4 students also have a weekly physical education class in the gym.
 
            St. Augustine preschool classes are filled with learning, singing, playing and definitely lots of fun!
