St. Augustine School prepares students to meet life’s challenges. Chromebooks are used in the classroom with the i-Ready diagnostic and instructional program. Students’ strengths and weaknesses are assessed during the diagnostic phase and then remediated and/or accelerated during the instructional phase. Instruction is individually tailored to each child’s needs. This helps teachers to differentiate learning and to assist each student to achieve success.
The curriculum follows Common Core and the New York State Standards. Students in grades K–2 take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) every spring and students in grades 3-8 take the New York State Assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Spanish is taught in grades 6-8 and an accelerated mathematics program is available. Accelerated students take the ninth grade Algebra I Regents in June and provided they do well, can start high school taking sophomore mathematics.
